Another #rockingchair nearly ready for delivery. Remember that large slab of oak from back in November? It is now two beautiful rocking chairs. A little left, but not enough for another chair.

What an amazing year 2024 has been here at Hill Top Furniture! My rocking chairs continue to be popular with two delivered and one on the bench at the moment.
Looking forward to the interesting projects that 2025 brings!

My latest #rockingchair is coming on nicely although it still looks like a pile of random pieces of wood. I worked out that there are over 100 pieces of wood in one chair!

My task over the next 2 months is to turn this into 2 #rockingchairs. Not quite enough here for 2 chairs, but I have some other bits.

Out and about on a gloomy but nice day in the Lakes today. Grasmere, Rydal, Loughrigg fell and back around Grasmere for a well earned lunch in The Gather Grasmere with some Christmas shopping afterwards. #lakedistrict

Delivery day for this Cumbrian oak cupboard.
The doors just have magnets closing them, but because of the air pressure of the cupboard it is impossible to slam them shut. Soft close doors with brass hinges!

I have done several kitchen islands with lakeland slate tops. But this oak one has to be my favourite.
The slate top was as big as they could produce at the quarry - 1.8m long and 80cm wide.

This glazed cupboard was a big project and quite an unusual job for me on several fronts. Painted Douglas Fir with 42 panes of glass! I designed, built and delivered it. The customer painted it and then I glazed it.

Here are some pictures of an elm and sycamore wardrobe which I made recently.
I love this Scottish elm. The grain is so pretty in it. I was lucky to find enough to make a wardrobe!

This large boot bench is made from local brown #oak. Brown oak is considerably browner and darker than normal oak, but is the same species of tree. The brown comes from a fungus.
I have since made a halfsize version for another customer. It can be made to whatever size fits into your hall.
