Big solo game challenge. Recently got On Mars and tried it out. What a brain melter. Love a lot about this one. The ai put up a fight. What a beautiful game too! @ianotoole.bsky.social knocked it out of the park on this one. (He always does) Fun challenge. K gotta recover now.
The on mars box on the table in front of the sun. The prettiest board in boardgaming The whole game fills up my kitchen table. It's pretty big.

No credit necessary at all!

(Though if anyone asks about the icon feel free to point them to the icon page so they can put it on their projects too!)

ah bummer to hear. but hopefully icons like these will help you stand out for the folks who want to support human made art.

I'm trying to keep a positive vibe about the current state of our world. I think most of us assume good intentions with everything we buy. And it can be nice to explicitly know when we're supporting a good cause. (like human creativity) Ai.. doesn't seem to be going away. 😭 but neither is human art!

Like labels/icons/tags like 'FSC' or 'organic' and such, I think the more information customers have, the better for everyone. I really like the games and work y'all put into everything and it doesn't have to be this icon specifically, but I would LOVE to see a 'human made' note on the box.
Sunome Puzzles has it on their puzzle books! Odd Gob boldly has the icon on the front cover of their game! All of M. Allen Hall's games are human made and it's easy to tell cause they're labeled as such. I'm of course putting them on our boardgames on the back where we display all the other related logos and icons.

A few years ago I made an icon pack for folks to use (it's free!) and over the years it's appeared on 100+ products (from what folks have linked to me! Mostly books) I like the positive spin of 'human made' vs 'no ai' personally.

Caught up on the livecast from this week. Someone mentioned that other companies are starting to put 'no ai was used' kind of notes on their games and in rulebooks. I think y'all might be interested to know that there is a movement there and people look for that!

the human made icons in the pack. free to use of course. an example shown on a book. (specifically TUMULUS by Exeunt Press)

What a great table! excited to see what this is about!

Thank you! Have you played an 18xx yet? Might be up your alley! I highly recommend Railways of the Lost Atlas, I'm taking quite a few color choices from them. (I've enjoyed my plays of gest btw! Congrats on a great game!)

You might wonder. Hmmm is 10 tiles too high of a stack? Won't that block the view of other elements on the table? Great question actually I just checked. 4 10x tile stacks look like this: I think as long as there's space on either side of them, info shouldn't be hidden by anybody. Everything visible
4 stacks of hexes arranged in a line 4 stacks of hexes arranged in a line 4 stacks of hexes arranged in a line. They're a little tall and 10 tiles could get messy if people aren't careful. But a sacrifice to save table space? I think so.

I chose to quit btw. Haha. Ain't nobody got time for all that pressure nonsense. I can't be more than the number one sales rep. Life's about choices. Gotta choose yourself sometimes.

I had a boss once who was always like "life's about choices." I like choices. And balancing full-availability of tiles vs 6 at a time... Comes with some randomness (mitigated by setup, but you know the potential of each stack.)
She always said "you can choose to sell better or work at McDonald's"

Sketch phase moves fast. I like market options in games. I think it helps me make better decisions and I feel like bad feelings happen less with less randomness (it's my enemy idk why) Originally I was thinking a river of tiles, constantly moving them. but what if just stacks? choice from top tiles.
the current set of tiles i'm thinking for elseware express. most 18xx games have a series of track tiles that come out based on color. yellow then green then brown then grey something like that. I was thinking what if instead of EVERY tile of a certain color being available at all times to players, we reduce some AP and give them 4-6 options depending on player count. Stack 10 tiles during setup. 4 yellow, 4 green, and 2 purples. Players build tiles from the tops of stacks, each color that's revealed more options open up for players.

Lord of the rings. I much prefer how randomness and tests play out. I did not enjoy how lucky Arkham horror is. If taking tiles out of the bag stayed out (mitigating luck with your decisions) then maybe, but bad odds and drawing the fail token over and over is just not a great time. (To me)

Super late to this, but have you tried the red rising boardgame? Kind of engine building, mostly interesting card play.

updating an itch page is quite the effort. So many things. You can even adjust the image that shows up when folks post to social media.

Yeah this is the match for sure

You make good ones too. Solo must watch frankly

another example of the types of events in Miru 2. Life is scary and it's interesting how we treat each other while we're here. Some people get houses made with stones and others get sticks. what's left after a century of decay? Will nature remember us after we're gone?
hinokodo.com
Idk why but I tear up every time I read this.

Each book in the trilogy explores a different theme/mechanic. Miru 1 is adventure, there's a lot more wonder/comedy/novelty as you go about the world. Miru 2 is horror, other beings exist and they're harming each other. and Miru 3 is defense, you have friends and thoughts and protecting them is hard
a crop of miru 3 note on Death and what dying means for your character. and the 3 gods you may face off against.
