When we bought this house, there were two sheds in the back yard. One is a crappy little metal one that I really need to rip out. But now there's an animal trapped in there. I'm about to go let it out. Wish me luck. I'll report back.

My dog, Tallulah, was barking at this balloon earlier as it went over our house. What is that image? It's driving me bananas.

Great letter in today's Guardian. What sort of free speech is prevented by factchecking, Zuck?

Jones in my (now empty) laundry basket.

Both of my cats are obsessed with my laundry basket. Sweets is sleeping on my clean clothes.

The window in front of my desk overlooks a giant apricot tree. The tree dropped its leaves over the last week and now all the tiny birds are here, eating bits of whatever on the branches. These are house finches, but we also get goldfinches and dark eyed juncos in the winter.

Phew. Seymour made an appearance. We rearranged some of the furniture outside, and moved the cam. Seymour seems a little confused by the changes.

Seymour didn't show up on the trail cam last night. So now I'll worry all day. Did they get eaten by the cat? An owl? A fox or coyote?
December 2, 2024 at 3:13 PM
This is a problem, though. Not only for Seymour's health and safety, but because we have coyotes here all the time.

We got a trail cam to see what sort of critters come through our yard. Cats, skunks a few times, a lizard. But mostly it's Seymour, a rat who lives under a shed, hoarding crab apples and leaves. I have the cam attached to a bucket so we can move it around the yard. I'm so invested in Seymour.
