I don’t think there’s going to be a casual name player who wants to play here until after the World Cup at the earliest, so the best course of action is build a foundation that will attract those players

I think we do this on both sides of the ball, and the issues are interrelated, the farther your 8 and (nominal) 10 drop the farther they have to now go to be a threat

He’d probably say we were 17th last year, missing our three best prime age players up front, and it takes time to settle a defense. He’d be wrong, but that’s what he’d say

Despite me pointing out when Frank joined that my concerns about his approach scaling (no cup wins against PL sides while in PL) I had an open mind that he was savvy enough to build on the good (Backline and young promising 8s+Xavi), instead we’ve seen nearly 3k minutes from Benthinha.

Despite me pointing out when Frank joined that my concerns about his approach scaling (no cup wins against PL sides while in PL) I had an open mind that he was savvy enough to build on the good (Backline and young promising 8s+Xavi), instead we’ve seen nearly 3k minutes from Benthinha.
I think there are two separate audiences that are upset right now. Those that don’t have the patience for a rebuild and are mad that a new hire doesn’t instantly put us on the same footing with more stable projects, and those that defended Ange because we’re seeing worse performance/less upside

I’m fairly certain he didn’t beat any PL teams in cup competitions while Brentford was in the PL

I don’t think our issue is our 3! young promising 8s not being great passers. Personally Id be training Gray for the 6, behind Bentancur and Bissouma (when healthy), and giving Tel and Odobert more overall minutes.

Again the myth of last year was that our core group was open. Never open when actual defenders played.

Yeah I think it’s silly to build a top 5 ambition PL side around 30 year old Palhinha. He’s a guy you bring in on loan to close out matches or to shield when your FBs and attackers are extra attacking.
