Are there universal laws of life? Our keynote speaker today at #ALIFE2025 is Chris Kempes, who dedicated his talk to the question above. He mainly focused on the constraints that life needs to emerge, showing that there are general scaling laws between multiple biological traits.

At the industry session, He Wang (Galbot Robotics) introduced us to a Vision-Language-Action loop to achieve generalist robots. As a solution to the big amount of data needed to train their robots, they propose the use of large scale synthetic data.

Our first keynote speaker at #ALIFE2025 is @hectorzenil.bsky.social, who discussed some common misconceptions of computability and algorithmic complexity theory and also introduced a new framework to formalize causality, detect patterns in living systems, and improve scientific explanation.
