Mysterious cave in a fantasy film?... NO, it's Lady Charlotte's cave on the hillside of Craig-y-barns.
The cave was a gift for Lady Charlotte, daughter of John Murray the 3rd Duke of Atholl in 1774. This photograph was taken by local woman Mary Noble in 1948.

Here we have Captain Percy Norville Field of the 1st Scottish Horse.

Captain field was killed at Doornlaagte in South Africa in on 2nd March 1902 during the Second Anglo-Boer war.

The sign and gateway were donated by Frederick Warne & Co publishers who were known for publishing many children's books, in particular those by Beatrix Potter.

In spirit of the Birnam Highland games this weekend...

🐎 In 1934 they organised a pony race during the games, however the horses arrived after the games had finished for the day! These newspaper clippings were found in the minute books of the games committee. 📖

Jacobite Festival '25
Sir Arthur Erskine's Regiment camp will still be in Stanley Hill park tomorrow until 4pm (but no tours tomorrow).

On the 21st of August 1689 Jacobite and Government troops fought a battle in the village of Dunkeld. Today marks the 336th anniversary of the battle. As part of the Jacobite Scotland festival we have events taking place this weekend with Erskine's Regiment
