I Taiwan mistet presidentens parti flertallet i parlamentet i fjorårets valg. Dette har ført til betydelige konflikter mellom utøvende og lovgivende makt. Nå kan det bli omvalg til parlamentet i mange kretser. Presidents parti håper å gjenvinner flertallet.
