The system was never built to survive people acting in bad faith at scale.
It only works when there’s a shared sense of integrity. The Founders never imagined someone would try to hollow it out from the inside while still using its rules.

Not everything has to be for everyone. I don’t like the NFL, but I understand why others do. There’s no need to dismiss what brings someone else joy. Putting down other people’s interests often says more about you than about what they enjoy.

What is hard to make sense of is the effort some invest in looking past his lack of it. Seeing others prioritize loyalty to him over their stated principles, and at times their own interests, raises real questions.
