In the city I live near we have one bike lane and it isn’t long enough.
I wish there was more.
My cousin operates an e-bike and he constantly zip down the sidewalk at full speed. I worry about him and someone he may impact.
And I thought urban planner got a say in design. So ty for that info.

I agree with you on that. Operators of e-bikes should have to take a course, get a license/permit and be insured. Insurance doesn’t need to be high as cars but something in case someone gets injured.

I do the exact same thing when I drive. If I see reverse lights I stop and allow the other driver the back up.
If not for safety, it just common courtesy.

What the biker’s fault was was zipping through an active parking lot and ignoring vehicle reverse lights.
Even when I’m walking through a parking lot, I am always watching for reverse lights. If I see them, I stop and let the driver back up since with limited visibility, they may not have seen me.

This sounds like it has to do more with the person on the bike and not bikes or e-bikes. If bikes are on the road then they should follow all the same rules as a vehicle. For example, stopped at red lights and using hand/turning signals.
