8. Brown served 100% of his sentence for robbery. Then he was released MONTHS BEFORE THE TASK FORCE EVEN GAVE ITS RECOMMENDATIONS.

None of the task force's recommendations were ever adopted by the legislature, and, in any event, the task force did not recommend that anyone be released early.

7. Meanwhile, Cooper's opponent in the Senate race, Michael Whatley says that Brown was released from jail in 2020 because of an executive order signed by Cooper.

This is also a lie.

The executive order created a commission to produce recommendations for criminal justice reform.

6. That means, for this January offense, Brown could have been incarcerated no longer than June 2025, months before the murder.

Who created the law that set the maximum penalty? The Republican legislature and the former Republican governor in 2013.

5. In January, Brown was charged with misusing 911. Brown told police officers that he had ingested some material that controlled his actions, and when the officers said they couldn't help, he got upset and called 911.

The maximum penalty for this offense under NC law is 120 days.

4. Trump and others say Cooper is responsible because Brown was only on the streets because of Cooper's policies. Trump says Zarutska would be alive, but Brown was "released on CASHLESS BAIL in January."

This is, objectively, a lie.

1. Trump and his allies have concocted a series of lies about the horrific murder of a 23-year-old woman in Charlotte in a transparent effort to secure an advantage in a critical North Carolina race that could swing control of the U.S. Senate.

It's nasty stuff.

Follow this thread for details.
A tragic murder, a baseless smear, and the fight for the U.S. Senate
A high-stakes race for an open U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina has gotten nasty very quickly.

Reporters talking with everyone who has ever met the shooter asking if the shooter knew any trans people. Healthy society we have here for sure.

The right-wing is trying to end competitive elections and freedom of speech in America.

The left-wing is occasionally very annoying.

Grow up.

ian miles cheong acting like he's defending children is incredible because a bunch of his tweets were extremely gross about age of consent and children

the only two options are that he's the least self-aware human being on the planet or the biggest fucking liar that has ever lived

"We hear so much about censorship being pushed by governments and global corporations and organizations. [...] Do you believe that there are powerful forces outside of elected officials, someone controlling governments, that are trying to control the flow of information and how do we resist that..."
hmmvryintrstng.bsky.social
yeah, a few outlets have reported that, but none of them called the person his "partner" or claimed they were trans, so not sure what the fuck is going on with his noise

most reports (including this one from @usatoday.com) say he lived with his parents, which makes this claim......confusing?

quote from usa today article: "The quiet street where Robinson lived with his parents is now the subject of intense scrutiny. Officers from the Washington City Police Department kept media and neighbors on the other side of the street. "

We’re frogs in the pot about this, I think. We’re so hardened to eliminationist, fascist rhetoric from the right that it hardly makes a dent when a prominent host on a major network suggests exterminating a large group of people. But he did. And nobody on modern Right gives a shit.

everyone is also spreading misinfo that the shooter said he disliked charlie kirk because he was full of hate, which is untrue per the arrest report

people keep claiming the shooter said he disliked charlie kirk because he was spreading hate, but the arrest report does not support that - it says the "family member" said that, not the shooter

"The family member also stated Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate."
