Articulated Porcelain - Knitting 01
#synthart #synthography #art #aiart #doll #knitting #surrealism
The image features a central articulated porcelain figure with a bird-like appearance, characterized by a prominently long beak and large, expressive eyes. The figure's head is adorned with textured, curly synthetic hair, complemented by a chunky, knitted scarf. Four delicate human-like arms hold a length of yarn, with a piece of knitting in progress. Surrounding the figure are three smaller, stylized birds, which echo the figure's design. The artwork is presented in soft monochrome, emphasizing the intricate details of the figure's texture and the flowing lines of the knitting. The composition centers the character dynamically, creating an intimate and whimsical ambiance.

Lodge: St Ann’s Tower, Kirkstall Lane, Headingley

A small stone building, easily missed, but if you get the train to Headingley station for the rugby or the cricket, you’ll walk past it.

We often walked to the Roche du chien, the Dog's rock ( not sure where the name comes from) looking out to the beautiful valley underneath. Then, last autumn we found a path that actually took us down to the valley. Here's my interpretation and the real thing.

An autumnal landscape. A blue sky with big clouds, hills disappearing into the distance, a farm surrounded by fields and some small bushes. A tall beech tree with colorful leaves split the composition in half

A black and white contact sheet displaying a grid of 36 small rectangular images. Each image showcases a variety of textures, including rough, weathered surfaces with visible cracks and peeling revealing layers beneath. Some images suggest architectural elements such as doorways and windows, while others capture natural forms like tree bark and stone, highlighting organic patterns and irregularities. The layout is organized in rows and columns, with clear, visible borders around each image, creating a structured presentation.

Deconstructed self portraits.

I watched a video this weekend on people using strictly in-camera effects to achieve surreal or similar effects. I wanted to try to recreate one of the shots that intrigued me the most. 🧵 ... #photography
A pair of black-and-white self portraits, taken from different angles, super imposed to make one shot. In each shot, horizontal strips of the image are blacked out, and the super-imposed image includes alternating strips from each image. In one image, you see my eyes, point 45 degrees off on to the right. In the strip below, you see my nose pointing 45 degrees off to the left. Similar image, except here, both exposure are staring more or less at the camera, but shifted left or right by an inch or so. My nose, therefore, pokes out from under my left eye, and my eyebrows are centered over that eye.
