DevOps Engineer at day, but loves (vanilla) WebDev at night. (he/him)
Do you want to know why I've been quite inactive in the @11ty.dev GitHub project over the last months?

GitHub's been making it hard to remove insecure SMS 2FA, which the community has been complaining about for quite some time.

I wrote this down in more detail here: www.hoeser.dev/blog/2025-12...
GitHub, your 2FA is broken
Big companies, that care for security, have their 2FA setup figured out - right, RIGHT? A personal tale of how GitHub prevented me from contributing to open source.

Hello other parts of the world! If you'd like to tell us your preferences from a list of web features people are already describing as "a bit long", here's how: bsky.app/profile/fire...
As an experiment, we (the Firefox team) wanted to try a new way to get feedback on which Interop proposals matter most.

So, here's a web app where you can rank the proposals you care about, giving us data we can use when reviewing which ones to champion.

Playing around with TheNativeWeb's EventSourcingDB and the (currently only internal) Rust driver (soon to be released).

As a PoC I wrote a small bridge connecting the DB with MQTT.

Yes! I find that coding agents are *terrific* at generating Lit code.

Lit:
- Use standard JS/TS syntax and semantics
- Has great typings
- Doesn't require a specific compiler or config
- Works entirely locally, no global effects
- Has a small API
- Is well documented
- Doesn't obscure standard APIs
A current operating premise I have is that the libraries that will succeed the greatest in the vibe coding era:

- are typed
- have great api docs
- have extensive well written guides and documentation
- favor simple conventional configuration / setup over lots of unique settings

Hello Bsky,
I finally found the time to ditch Twitter for something new!
www.hoeser.dev/blog/2024-11...
Goodbye Twitter
I waited far too long to switch away from Twitter, but I finally took the time to update my socials.
