I mean this to be completely sincere AND complimentary, Avatar The Way of Water is a woke masterpiece. A perfectly didactic screed on the misplaced values of capitalism and consumption.

There’s just a huge gap in quality between the two, to the point where you could credibly make the argument TWoW is the best sequel of all time.

But defending TWoW kind of necessarily forces you to defend Avatar, which is just not thematically or emotionally resonant in the same way.

The Way of Water has a far better story than Dune, far better told, with better characters. Sorry not sorry Frank Herbert.
