Daring to practice medicine the way my heart directs doesn’t align well with most goals of corporate healthcare (read: make $ & don’t make waves). And that’s ok. Nothing wrong w/corporate goals. But also nothing wrong w/mine. Heartfelt seems riskier. But risks are worth it as dreams become reality.

A lot of things at work feel routine.

I created niches where I felt myself expanding & hoped to be given a leadership position in trauma so I might grow more.

The leadership position is going to another, & the niches are not enuf.

So, it’s time for this peacock to spread his wings and fly.

I’m ready for something new & different, really to be the physician & surgeon I have dreamed of being. Like many doctors, fears to be fully authentically myself professionally include:
-impostor syndrome
-perceived need to build up clout
-insecure about academic pedigree & skills

…But no more.

I’m looking forward to many things when I begin a new chapter of my career and my life.

One small thing that’s going to be #sweet: carrying only one phone!

A professional chapter is closing.

I learned so much about what is best, who I am, & which parts of me to shed.

Above all, over the last 6 years, I’ve learned to love myself & trust my heart, becoming so much more deeply empathetic & a better clinician as a result.

Next adventure, here I come!
