14 signatures away from 400 - thank you all so much. ELCE is one of the best things about Bristol and it would be a travesty to lose it
Please help. Please sign. I work on a part-time degree for mature students to study for a BA in English Literature & Community Engagement. Its direct access and designed for those who didn't or couldn't go to Uni at 18. Bristol plan to close it. We want to save it.

Will Somers' voice, 40 years on, was used by Thomas Nashe in 1600, for Summer's Last Will and Testament. The closing line? Barbarus hic ego sum, quia non intelligor ulli ("I am a barbarian here, because I am not understood by anyone"). I wonder which house 'hic/here' actually was..

"them that will themselves laugh to set on some quantity of barren spectators to laugh too ... shows a most pitiful ambition in the fool that uses it" Ham. 3.2.38-42

Laughter is apparently infectious. But mobilising laughter to bring on others' mirth is apparently unwise, unmannerly, or unrefined?
