Professor Tom Wainwright explains that we “can’t assume digital will solve everything” when asked about the low digital literacy levels.
Professor Lee-Ann Fenge expands on this saying that while those in the younger generation are more digitally aware, those who aren’t can’t be forgotten.

“If you want to make a change to policy you need to people who are living that struggle to push forward”.

Wainwright goes onto answer that” we won’t fund any research without patient and public involvement”.

When asked about how they would ensure all this research could be inexpensive, Professor Hundley says there are “innovative ways of using our resources better” potentially even using AI to improve our resources.

Professor Fenge talks about how social care under the NHS is inaccessible due to the fact that “social care is very underfunded”.
She expands by saying everyone has the right to “live well and age well in the community they live in” but “at the moment it is a bit of a postcode lottery”.

‘What I Would Like to Say’ project highlights how hospitals aren’t inclusive by listening to the voices of those affected.

Research Engagement Network programme helps bring the voices of the homeless into health and care research.

Both of these programmes are conducted by Seldom Heard Voices.

CHAIN not only saved patients from having surgery to help their arthritis but cuts the cost of treatment by 3/4 alongside cutting the time it takes to treat patients.

The CHAIN (Cycling Against Hip Pain) Programme was ran for 150 patients with arthritis, it included patients going on a 6 week cycling exercise routine.
The results showed that patients had less pain and were now voluntarily joining the programme.
5 years later, 45% didn’t need further treatment.

University Hospitals Dorset also plan to make Poole Hospital the highest major planned care centre in the UK, aiding with the increase in waiting times.

One of the plans to improve Dorset health services is the opening of the BEACH building.
This would aid in Birthing, Emergency, Critical and Child healthcare.
The 6 storey building is currently taking donations under the name The Beach Appeal to aid with construction.

Following the Dorset Clinical Service Review in 2019 plans to expand health services provided were approved.
This resulted in over 10,000 hours of NHS staff time being inputted into updating and improving health services.
The Labour government also donated £500 million into local health services.
