Some will, but because they are anti-establishment oppositional voters, not because they want Republicanism lite. These people want to see rage and they want a candidate that the New York Times hates.

In the old days Nazis joined Nazi gangs and weren’t lonely because they had their gang. These days they sit online being furiously Nazi at Twitter and have no real Nazi friends.

One way that works is because the other parties feel they need to move right to compensate and end up losing their more left-wing voters but not picking up enough on the right.

I don't know how you can reach such a high place in office without realizing that people don't want you to say "I respect and like my opponent but would do things just slightly differently" especially when your opponent is a demon in a human skin suit.

In most places there are positions that go unfilled due to lack of volunteers. Being a warm body that isn't a Republican makes you infinity better than the alternative. Blue stronghold cities are a bit different.

Sometimes there are people who want purity, like they will not vote for anyone but a once-in-a-lifetime perfect candidate. But if a large voting bloc of people who are normally easy to please is freaking out, the Democrats need to start listening.
