You want to make a point about the extortionate cost of renovating Westminster, fine . Using HS2 as a comparison is crass and way wide of the mark. A major feat of civil engineering can’t be compared with a refurbishment.

If we get back what we paid for him I’d be happy. He’s a decent to very good player when fit but that’s his main problem, he can’t stay fit. Every tackle, every time he goes down it’s like it’s the end of his career. I want someone who can do a similar job but be available to play every game.

Of course it’s intentional. Saying as such is the same as saying sod the referendum result because that’s how the right will portray it. He can’t also say blame the protagonists either unless there is conclusive proof of Russian involvement. He wants to keep Brexit Labour voters on side.
