Doctor Who day has arrived. Yes, our favourite TV show celebrates its 62nd anniversary. At 5.16pm on the 23rd November 1963 the BBC premiered An Unearthly Child and UK television viewers were introduced to the incredible world of Doctor Who for the first time. William Hartnell was the Doctor, a strange old man who could travel through space and time in his blue police box. Little did anyone know that this was just the first incarnation of a character who would become so iconic and still be here 62 years later. Happy anniversary, Doctor Who!

Doctor Who’s Rory, Arthur Darvill, takes part in a global chase to stop a deadly virus in new TV series Apollo Has Fallen, filming now Former Doctor Who companion Arthur Darvill is the latest star to join the popular ‘…Has Fallen’ action adventure franchise. The series began in 2013 with Olympus Has Fallen, where Gerard Butler’s secret service agent has to retake the White House after terrorists seize control. Since then it’s spawned two movie sequels, London Has Fallen and Angel Has Fallen. Last year a spin-off TV series Paris Has Fallen joined the universe. The next entry in the franchise will be Paris sequel Apollo Has Fallen, filming now, featuring Arthur Darvill. Darvill joins Ritu Arya (Fugitive of the Judoon, The Umbrella Academy) and Tewfik Jallab returning as Paris Has Fallen’s MI6 agent Zara Taylor and former close protection officer Vincent Taleb. In that series they joined forces to save the French President from a vengeful rogue French Foreign Legionnaire. This time their mission takes them around the world when terrorists steal a deadly virus. But it’s sure to feature the same high octane action, twists, turns, and betrayals as you’d expect from the Has Fallen series. Will Arthur Darvill be friend or foe to the pair as they fight to save the day again? That’s a mystery for now. But we do know another new member of the cast will be Annabel Scholey, who memorably played the Weeping Angel possessed psychic Claire in Doctor Who: Flux. Main series lead Ritu Arya was, of course, also in Doctor Who as the Time Lord Gat in Fugitive of the Judoon. Alice Troughton (The Doctor’s Daughter, Midnight) will also direct episodes of Apollo Has Fallen. Apollo Has Fallen is currently filming internationally, and will presumably be on television screens on Amazon Prime in the UK in 2026. Doctor Who stars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are reuniting for an exciting new project that will see the Ponds return to look back on their time on the BBC sci-fi show. Gillan and Darvill famously played husband and wife Amy Pond and Rory Williams, joining the show for season five in 2010 as companions to Matt Smith's tenth Doctor The pair exited the show after two seasons and are now set to reunite for a new podcast titled The Pondcast in which they will reminisce about their time on Doctor Who. Confirming the news in an interview with RadioTimes.com, Darvill said the podcast will see the pair rewatch their old episodes which they will then discuss. What to Read Next "We really get on and we catch up quite often, and we had such a good time [on Doctor Who]," he explained. "It was so long ago and we've forgotten so much that happened, but it was such a formative thing, that we feel now that we're able to look back and celebrate it." On what to expect from the podcast, Darvill said: "I've not seen half of it, so we're going to rewatch it and talk about it. We've recorded a few episodes already and it's really fun. It is just me and Karen messing around so I'm not quite sure how many new facts you'll get, but it's really nice to kind of go back and reminisce about it." Asked how he feels watching his old episodes again, Darvill said: "I'm slightly nervous, but also, because it was so long ago, it feels like a different person. So I feel ready to watch some stuff. I've seen a lot of it, but there's some episodes I've never seen. So it will be a complete surprise." Elsewhere in the interview, Darvill opened up about whether he would return to the show after Gillan recently confirmed she would reprise the role of Amy Pond, if Smith and Darvill were also on board. Darvill said: "We all joke with each other because we're all still good mates, like 'Maybe this year we'll be back'. I like the idea that when we're really old we'll go back. I presume it's going to go on forever. "But yeah, if the scripts were right – it was so funny when we left, we all were like, 'No, never going back. It was too good. We don't want to ruin it.' But now I think we've kind of gone off and done our own things. "And reminiscing is dangerous at times, but you kind of look back and go, well, it was really formative, and the most fun I've had on almost anything, really.
