Alsongside providing valuable seed. These birch trees provide protection from salt laden winds to our nursery beds whilst nurturing optimal soil conditions for our nursery beds.

The parent woodland and trees has sadly since partially capsised into the sea due to coastal errosion; highlighting how important it is to preserve particular characteristics of these isolated tree populations.

Our team is collecting Downey birch seeds from our alley cropping rows. These salt adapted Downey birch trees where planted as saplings in 2020 from seed collected from a woodland fragment on the hyper oceanic North Atlantic coast.

Our Burren Pine stand is producing little pine cones!

This stand was planted as part of Burrenbeo Trust Hares Corner Project to preserve the local genetic character of a unique stand of pine trees found in the Burren.
