The parent woodland and trees has sadly since partially capsised into the sea due to coastal errosion; highlighting how important it is to preserve particular characteristics of these isolated tree populations.

Our team is collecting Downey birch seeds from our alley cropping rows. These salt adapted Downey birch trees where planted as saplings in 2020 from seed collected from a woodland fragment on the hyper oceanic North Atlantic coast.

This EIP seeks to address that gap through an ecologically coherent and community-rooted approach. The project will develop practical, sustainable and innovative solutions to support the long-term establishment and stewardship of upland native woodlands.
