We just don't have the votes to pull off a Democrat becoming Speaker.
We would at best make the House have to repeatedly vote trying to achieve the 218.
So we offer a nominee from our party, but we actually work with the 4+ to pick a winnable Republican that is at least better than Johnson.

My understanding is that they can't keep taking these extended recesses without approval from the senate. Start leaning on the senators. I'm not a fan of John Thune, but he has actually gone against Trump on some things. 🤷
