I might just be in a bad mood, but I think that worldbuilding is (mostly) the death of horror. Like, I don't want to know every little thing about the Aliens, or the Cenobites, or Cthulhu. I don't want big interconnected worlds where everybody knows each other, at least, not usually.

So, the Fly 1958 is pretty good! Great acting and effects. While it's definitely different than the Cronenberg remake- which is what I saw first- they both feel like the same story told differently, but very, very well.

You know, if someone was gonna give Robert Eggers the reigns on any 80's fantasy property, why not Legend?

Alright, so I have a huge backlog of movies to go through. I've been going through some of them and here are my thoughts on the first two that came to mind.

"Black Friday" has a pretty good opening, but it falls fast after that and "Biotherapy" is just kinda meh.

Guys, guys, hear me out, what if someone made a plushy of the Bug queen from Starship Troopers? Like, with a smooth pleather skin, button eyes and a red felt stinger with bendy wire? Would it say something about us as people, probably, but what if...what if she was also a backpack?

I'm bummed. I wish I liked Alien: Romulus more.

I think it would be kind of nice to see a sci-fi story where, instead of "You made this without considering whether you should" it's, "Well you made it...but why? Why did you genetically engineer a chameleon that can only turn tye-dye, why make a squid that only knows how to play the can-can?"

I hope Hobby Link Japan put out more Sentai Monster books in the future. Some FANTASTIC designs in there, great inspiration.
