I was shocked recently to discover an old book in my father’s collection with a Swastika on the front. Turns out it was a 1920s book when the symbol was widely used as a general stylish motif; a practice that rapidly fell out of favour after 1933. I was worried for while there.

Yes, I was appalled. The council website says they recycle textiles but take them down to the tip and they say just throw them in landfill. I was glad to find the Dunelm scheme.

I take my old fabrics to dunelm who claim they will recycle them. Our local tip just throws them directly in landfill. Don’t even bother with a separate bin
