I really miss paleoart like this. The more prominent shadows make the colours pop even more, and that combined with the dusky sky really helps sell the primordial world.

As a kid, I loved artworks like these John Gurche paintings. I love how they portray dinosaurs as these gigantic, mysterious creatures, and I love to way the shadows contrast with the primordial colours.

It also puts a bit of a dent in the theory that there weee no medium sized carnivores because young large theropods filled that niche. I’m also curious about how this will affect reconstructions of juvenile T. rexes as well.

Exactly, I was a kid with a strong dinosaur phase, and that expanded into a generalised animal phase which hasn’t left.
