"Or is it Menchaca?", I ask, cackling evilly.

I finally had a Blinding Flash of the Obvious and checked the alt text. "A small brown lizard, maybe a skink, on the hood of a car". And then I noticed that the end of a windshield wiper is on the far left. We see the hood top edge + the bottom of the windshield, looking into the trench(?) there.

I'm mildly curious: is there a pattern to when footnotes are clickable links versus plain text?

There were those who said that using the name "King Charles III" was a bad omen. Turns out that nobody specified for whom.

Probably many of us who know of Ursula had the exact same instant reaction.

Insurance companies can use subrogation to sue for reimbursement. I Am Not A Lawyer. The one source I found was unsure whether, in Alaska, the insurance company or the insured is listed as the plaintiff. In many states, it's the insured's name on a suit driven by the company.

Don't facepalm. I read it the same way you did. "It was too wet" did not specify the referent of "it" (I assumed it was the thread topic, the NM garden & this plant there) and when "was" was.

I am no expert, so anyone in the field might shoot this down at once, but I notice that the BBC article quotes data for April - June, but these job numbers are up through September. I think that the Q3 GDP numbers would be more appropriate.

Too cheap to pay for the image and not inclined to learn an image-editing program.

To cross-pollinate with another reply: something like “Any fool can glow. The paint is the undergland.”― Albert Einstein?

Niigata is so much more! There are many fields of tasty tasty rice! Some of the rice is made into sake! There is a sake vending machine at the train station! See historic prostitute areas! Eat at seafood restaurants with tasty tasty sake! -- Niigata Happiness Tourism Bureau

Could have usefully pointed out Larry Niven's "Slaver species" back story, where bandersnachi were living on a moon of Sirius for a billion years. -- That could also appear in an article STARS AGE! STARS AGE! STARS AGE!

I had to back up and reparse the sentence "Otters on the bike ride", after wondering how their stumpy little legs would reach the pedals.

Graysky? .... (one search later) Huh. I didn't know there were other clients. Thank you.

Hi, engineer Christine! Glad to meet you! Are you tall?

Name suggestion: Chad.

The shift supervisor then gets the moniker Human Chad.

Though I also appreciate knowing that Latin had a short word that could be used to express a grande dame icily instructing the footman to remove *that ... **thing***.
