A panel from an August 1965 Peanuts strip. Snoopy stands on a beach, shocked, thinking “It’s her! My old skating girl friend! A beagle in a bikini!” I could tell you exactly which date this strip was from but due to the recent financial gatekeeping of the GoComics archive I no longer have immediate easy access to such information. I mean it’s $35 a year to read Peanuts. I love Peanuts but like come on its Peanuts you shouldn’t have to pay for Peanuts. anyways you can find it elsewhere pretty easily but the strips aren’t labeled by date in the Fantagraphics collections so. anyways

all this to say i still don't know what i want from any of these sites. i may one day have some moment of clarity and kick the habit altogether. it has objectively brought a lot of good into my life but using it feels the same as when my dad stops the car a dozen times on a road trip to smoke

a friend of mine started a forum, and posting on it was fun, but it was so fun that i didn't want to share it around and be seen in any different light than "a buddy interacting with buddies," so once we fell out of the habit of using it, it dried up and became harder to jump back into that mode.

at the same time, i have felt myself receding, being less willing to say anything of substance on here than i had been on cohost or even back on twitter. i want to share pieces of myself, but at the same time i get agitated when i think about strangers knowing too much about me beyond my drawings

i thought when cohost ended that it marked an opportunity for me to detach from a model on online interaction that mostly served to make me miserable, but it didn't take long for me to fall back into old habits. and like... it hasn't been all bad? i continue to meet and make new friends on here, etc

i don't claim any sort of expertise on the direction of any given social media platform, but the ceo freakout and the moderation decisions and the one year since cohost of it all has me thinking about this stuff again. a year ago i don't think i expected myself to be using it like this still

p2: Autumn counts her gripes on her fingers. A: It’s just the same old problems, y’know? I’ve got no direction, no special skills, nothing but rocks on tricks-or-treats-- S, off-panel: Mm?
p3: Autumn wails to the sky while Summer amusedly turns away. A: My dog doesn’t respect me, and a tree ate my kite, and I’ve NEVER gotten to kick the football-- S: Ok, we’re gonna call it there
p4: It is revealed that they are standing on a platform behind a very small segment of wall. Jeanie is there as well, smiling at a clipboard. S: Sorry Jeanie, but I don’t think the conversation wall is gonna “disrupt mental healthcare” the way your boss imagines. A, quietly: Sometimes the dog wears sunglasses, and that’s cool. I can admit that the dog is cool. J: Well, that’s okay. The backup plan is to market it as a playset for melancholy kids
