a lot of the modern state of the genre being rather bland

i think the post eva 00s genre blending boom really diversified the landscape of mecha, but also a lot of it slips through the cracks unless its associated closely with A Guy Who Worked On Something (and sometimes even then) and the genre's re-fusion with the gundam family imo is responsible for

i mean technically gunxsword i think qualifies as one of those Obviously Post-Eva Shows That Is Nonetheless Difficult To Articulate Why Or How It Is Post-Eva

i'd also say that its important to pick up some Wayside 00s Detritus (stuff like divergence eve, geneshaft, innocent venus, vandread, arguably even rahxephon or aquarion)
