Sales tax is regressive (bigger impact the less money you make), and income tax is progressive (bigger impact the more money you make.) This seems consistent with the Trump goal of making the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Trying to divine some deep strategy behind tariffs on everything... Is this an attempt to replace the federal income tax with a federal sales tax? That's what tariffs essentially are, because they are paid by the consumer when they buy things. Trump keeps touting the revenue from tariffs.
