3. If the ACA subsidies expire, people's healthcare premiums will increase. Some by only a little, but many will nearly double. I cannot, and will not, support that.

2. Undocumented immigrants cannot receive healthcare through federal programs. This means Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act subsidies that Democrats are fighting to protect.

1. I did not take a salary during the last government shutdown and will not take one now. If federal employees – everyone from our military, to postal workers, to TSA agents, and my own office staff – are expected to show up and work without pay for the duration of the shutdown, I will do the same.
