I'm so, so happy with this design and I couldn't be prouder to be repping my home convention as GOH this year!
two deer headed figures stand facing the viewer but with their heads in profile, looking at each other. They are surrounded by a decorative frame and the column that separates them is a tree, half alive and half dead. The bottom text reads AnthrOhio 2025

I’m recovering ok, unfortunately my dad (who was hospitalized for much of last year due to septic shock) had to have surgery earlier this week to address a large subdural hematoma. This afternoon he had a stroke. It sounds like the emergency surgery went well. No way to know about recovery yet.

or that don’t resemble that, really any ones you enjoy doing roughs with.

I’ve got a bunch of retrosupply/truegrit sets handy and I think I can probably get something in one of those to behave reasonably similarly

procreate update unfortunately completely changed how the literal only brush I sketch with feels/looks (I’ve already reinstalled the brush, tweaked settings, classic mode, etc etc) so I’m looking for recs that vaguely resemble this sort of blunt monowidth pencil thing:

I just got a VERY interesting email that allies in congress were upset that so many of my readers were calling about the anti-trans provisions. I'm here to say: good. I won't let them throw our rights under the bus by cover of night.

All's that to say, keep up the calls. They're hearing you.

1. It's shutdown day, and anti-trans provisions are on the line... either today, or in a few more weeks if a clean continuing resolution passes.

Trump posted a video this morning blaming a shutdown on trans people and immigrants.

Here is your shutdown guide.

The stopgap measure being voted on today to try to avoid govt shutdown includes a provision that could strip ALL federal funding from any institution/facility providing access to any form of gender-affirming care, for anyone of any age. Call.

oh I’m aware, I just didn’t realize my state had already passed the measure. It went into effect here about 12 hours ago.

Of course not lmao Generative AI is entirely built on the of stealing art and prose you did not create and throwing it in a blender to make something that vaguely resembles what you want. That's literally the type of user base you've cultivated. You want thieves to pay to steal? Are you serious?

So many billions spent on the build out of infrastructure for a product that hardly anyone is willing to pay to use.

After Janet’s death in a 1979 housefire, her heartbroken sister Anne made good on all of their outstanding commissions, and mastered many subjects which had been her sister’s speciality, particularly horses. She worked until 2 days before her death, at the age of 69 in 1998.

Works by Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone, a pair of identical twin sisters who worked (primarily in gouache) by passing their shared illustrations back and forth. Together they illustrated hundreds of ads, logos, and over 100 books, including Dodie Smith’s 101 Dalmations.

I feel like online it’s often a self-selecting group who had negative experiences with the surgery, bc ofc happy people don’t have a reason to post about it!

I’m not gonna say I’m 100% cured, I’ll be in PT for the rest of my life, but it was absolutely 1000% worth the difficulty, you can do it!
houndsaint.bsky.social
they remain severed! I had a PM release on both sides. I haven’t noticed any issues associated specifically with the PM being detached in the year since the left side surgery, but I’d definitely recommend making sure you’re seeing a good PT both before and after the procedure.

I worried that once I got surgery, if I did, and if it worked, that 3 years would be too long. I would have forgotten how to draw, or communicate, or how to WANT to make art at all. I guess it remains to be seen, my arms are still burning and weak, but I still want to.
houndsaint.bsky.social
in some ways it’s hard to feel hopeful again when for so long I just had to wait and see with no guarantee of getting improvement. I started (selfishly, maybe) to hate seeing videos of people carving, not bc of the content, but bc it was a reminder of the only thing I wanted to do, and couldn’t

I couldn’t feel my left arm at all when I woke up, took until 3 months ago for me to feel like having that surgery was the right decision. I went into this one scared, but I could feel my whole hand again as soon as I woke up. not constricted or cold or painful, for the first time in years.
