Taking a leisurely stroll through my vinyl record collection to share a few of my favourite Jamaican tunes and trivia, just like I used to do a few years ago in the House of Reggae podcast... https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/houseofreggae

Same here, I've always considered Delroy's to be the original but there's a nagging thought that Studio 1 would often cover other songs that were popular at the time, so I'm not 100% sure, but yes Delroy's is often quoted as the origin of that riddim...

Excellent look forward to it, but which one will you start with, Delroy or Conquerors? 🤔

And here's the original tune, or is it? 🤷

2 very similar versions of Won't You Come Home were recorded in 1967. One by Delroy Wilson at Studio 1 and one by The Conquerors for Sonia Pottinger.

Here's Delroy's...

Happy birthday to DJ legend Josey Wales.

Josey's smooth rub-a-dub flow on U Roy's King Stur Gav sound system in the early 80s made him one of the most popular DJs of the era.

Here he rides the Won't You Come Home rhythm...

Ah, I did wonder who the special guest star was. Well that makes it even better! 👌

Ah yes forgot about those. Plenty of Spaghetti Westerns wasn't it? I was a bit distracted by the tunes and Garrard deck! 😂

Good point. To be above Jackie Edwards, then yes it must be.

About 15 years ago, Chris invited a friend over to his house and I managed to tag along. He was very generous with his time and showed us some of the flyers and posters he had from those days. A great archive!

They used to promote the dances as soul dances more than Reggae in Soho and the West End as they were always getting shut down by racist police, so alot of times it's reggae artists mixed with Soul like here

That's a great find. I presume that's supposed to say Jimmy Cliff? And on Christmas Day too. Better than staying in and playing Monopoly! 😃

I was thinking more specifically in terms of that Soul Vendors tour, but yes anything else is welcome too! I do enjoy looking at adverts and flyers from the 60s and 70s.

That's excellent! So a 'Back by demand' banner suggests they must have played the Ram Jam at least 3 times then as they were back there again in November. Cheers! 👌
