My work is an invitation to discover the beauty often hidden in plain sight while also imagining what might exist just beyond our perception. I believe such noticing and imagining can lead to a more profound sense of meaning.

"Chambers Of Gold"
Photographic print.

This is a multiple exposure made of two ICM images of a tile wall with the movements in opposite directions and then inverted.

If interested, my latest blog post talks about how to easily do Photoshop inversions at howardgrill.com/blog

"Photons As Particles"

Acrylic Painting

24x30 inches

The second in a series I have been making about the sun. For those with a science leaning, the next in the series will be "Photons As Waves" 😉

In addition to abstract photography, I have been enjoying abstract painting a great deal. This is a minimalist painting and the first of a series that I am planning related to the sun.

"Choose Your Dreams Carefully"

Multiple exposure photo with each exposure being an ICM. I thought it looked like a series of doors and reminded me of the show on Apple TV from about a year or so ago called "Dark Matter" about alternate universes.

"Sol"
Acrylic painting, 20x20 inches.
Playing with modeling paste and sponge techniques.

The finished painting. Having the lighter tones at the top didn't work, so I ended up having them in the middle, which seemed just right. The texture is formed by modeling paste on the canvas.

Acrylic, 20x30 inches

The painting continues... the darker tones have been laid down over the bottom third. The middle third will have medium tones, and the upper third will have light tones. The light tones will come next.

I thought I would try something different, instead of showing a finished work. I started a painting and thought I would show it in stages as it progresses. My plan is to fill in the 'squares' with warm tones, starting with dark and the bottom, working my way up to light tones at the top.

"Flotation"
Multiple exposure abstract.

The shapes made me feel like they were people relaxing and floating on water.
What do you see/feel?

I'm finding that I am really enjoying getting my "hands dirty" painting abstracts. 24x30" acrylic.

For the last few weeks, I have been trying my hand at abstract painting. This is the first one that I like.

Constructive comments will be well taken!
