Devoted to family, synagogue, and the Mets, not necessarily in that order.
A Hanukkah ha-ha, or should I say a Chanukah cha-cha? So your kids are not among your 3.9K followers?

I find it hard to believe, but some people enjoy working in the garden. 😀 Agree completely re Bobby Ojeda’s skills as an analyst on SNY. I was sorry when he left that job

My story is SOMEWHAT similar. I was a Yankees fan like my mom, but in 1962 I switched to the Giants, still my dad’s team. When Willie Mays was traded to the Mets in 1972, I immediately changed my allegiance.

My mom and dad both knew baseball. I was a lucky kid.

This guy on the other platform calls his account “PARODY” and he seems to think that gives him license to manufacture “reports” including a big offer from Red Sox to Pete Alonso and that Framber Valdez is signing with the #Mets.

And, of course, with Phil Rizzuto driving the car away in the commercial. I met Mr. Rizzuto, and got his autograph at the very first baseball game I ever attended. It was during his first year as a Yankees broadcaster, after a Hall of Fame career as a player.

Olerud wore a batting helmet while fielding because he had a brain aneurysm in college. He was willing to poke fun at himself by wearing a helmet in this classic TV commercial with #Mets & Yankees players. youtu.be/h7qmbIe_E1g?...

My personal favorite moment with John Olerud: I attended this game at Shea on 5/23/99 with my 19 year-old son. There were many boastful Phillies fans nearby. #Mets scored 5 runs in the 9th vs. villainous Curt Schilling, capped by Olerud’s game winning single, to win, 5-4, and silence those fans.

Great friendship and mutual respect between experienced Cliff Floyd and young David Wright. #MetsSky

If I recall correctly, at one point while with the #Mets, Trachsel took a voluntary demotion to minors to work out some problems despite years of MLB experience. He came back strong and was commended for that.

Trachsel gets a bad rap because of his slow routine. A reliable number 4 or 3 starter. A workhorse. Plus I was at Shea with my son on 9-18-2006 when Trachsel started and won the Eastern Division clincher. #Mets

That’s what they said about Chris Bassitt, but he adjusted and maybe even got better.

Keith was, pure and simply, a winner who made everyone on his team better. He was the consummate leader, and no statistical compilations (which are pretty impressive for Keith anyway) can reflect that. He was an aggressive defender at 1B, putting his personal safety on the line in bunt situations.

Wow, Paula! Thank you.

I remember thinking that Piazza would not sign with the Mets long term if the fans kept that up. Fortunately he quickly turned things around, and all was forgiven.

The #Mets already had a very good catcher when they obtained Piazza, Todd Hundley, so good that he held the Mets single season HR record. Piazza got off to a slow start w Mets, and was getting booed at Shea. Hundley was moved to LF but he was a poor outfielder, and was finally traded to the Dodgers.

While playing for the Mets, Chris Woodward was often described as a future manager, which turned out to be the case. He was an exceptional pinch hitter for the Mets.
