I just really love shapes. I love it when things are shapes. And I love it even more when shapes are things (Molecular model printer @3dmoleculardesigns.bsky.social‬‬, former rodent botherer, perennial cell enjoyer)

Cerebellar sunset
The same picture as in the first two posts, but with different color backgrounds added to make its top half orange-yellow and its bottom half blue. Here is the description of the first picture:

A hand holding a backlit circular lithophane in a Petri dish. The lithophane shows a cerebellar section from figure 2 of chapter 6 of Ramon y Cajal's Recuerdos de mi Vida. The bottom half(ish) of the lithophane is striped horizontally with parallel fibers; a blue background has been added there to make the parallel fibers look more like waves.

(If you're still at a loss for murkiness, may I suggest searching for 'unknown' or 'uncharacterized'! Fits conceptually and lets you draw whatever looks coolest :-P )

Looking at #20 and wondering how many PDB entries have fascinating tales of rivalry behind them...

It’s almost October!
I plant to participate in inktober challenge again this year. One protein drawing a day for 31 days. I would LOVE your suggestions!
Check out the prompt list and nominate a pdb of a protein for me to draw that could be a good fit for any of these prompts.
Wish me luck!

*Nice!*

FABPs and their ilk have always reminded me of woven textures (and waffle fries, but anyway)...maybe 2LFO, 1BWY, 1JBH, 1MX8, 6I9F, that sort of thing?

Giving a webinar on #BlueSoup this Friday, in case anyone wants to pop in during their lunch!
A promotional flyer for a webinar in the CSU Bioinformatics Webinar Series. On the left side, it shows the date and time: “26 Sep | 12 PM PST.” It includes instructions to join via Zoom with Meeting ID: 886 2442 3158 and a QR code above. On the right, there is a photo of Dr. Elinne Becket, Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos, sitting outdoors with plants and trees in the background. Below, the title of the talk is displayed: “The Soup that Blue up Twitter.” The description explains that Dr. Becket will discuss the shared curiosity of science, open science, and a story from February 2023 when leftover beef soup prepared by her mom turned bright blue. Scientists and people on Twitter collaborated to investigate, leading to a global effort among microbiologists and chemists. At the bottom, there are links to learn more about upcoming webinars at www.informatics.sdsu.edu and Dr. Becket’s website: https://elinneb.wixsite.com/becketlab

I completed a little embroidered chrysomelid. It turned out so cute! I created a tortoise beetle design that I will try out later.

Fall always makes me want to do fiber arts. I still have a new king-sized quilt in the works so there's hefty competition for my creative energy this year.
An embroidery hoop with a black piece of fabric that has a beetle embroidered with patterns in silver, black, and various shades of teal.
