"The Crash Mania guy", as I've been called. Almost never here unless I just played something I really liked or I'm speaking up against something nefarious. My wife @teiranova.com drew the banner. Profile pic is from Nicola Saviori's art.

‼ Fight Chat Control - protect EU digital privacy! ‼

The EU may soon mandate scanning private messages and photos, possibly by October.

PLEASE, contact your MEPs now - the site has their details (for all EU countries!) and even a message generator to make it easy!

https://fightchatcontrol.eu/

The EU (still) wants to scan your private messages and photos

The "Chat Control" proposal would mandate scanning of all private digital communications, including encrypted messages and photos. This threatens fundamental privacy rights and digital security for all EU citizens.

Currently: 3 member states opposing, 15 member states, 9 member states undecided

You Will Be Impacted

Every photo, every message, every file you send will be automatically scanned—without your consent or suspicion. This is not about catching criminals. It is mass surveillance imposed on all 450 million citizens of the European Union.

Mass Surveillance - Every private message, photo, and file scanned automatically: no suspicion required, no exceptions*, even encrypted communications.

Breaking Encryption - Weakening or breaking end-to-end encryption exposes everyone's communications—including sensitive financial, medical, and private data—to hackers, criminals, and hostile actors.

Fundamental Rights - Undermines your fundamental rights to privacy and data protection, as guaranteed by Articles 7 and 8 of the EU Charter—rights considered core to European democratic values.

False Positives - Automated scanners routinely misidentify innocent content, such as vacation photos or private jokes, as illegal, putting ordinary people at risk of false accusations and damaging investigations.

Ineffective Child Protection - Child protection experts and organisations, including the UN, warn that mass surveillance fails to prevent abuse and actually makes children less safe—by weakening security for everyone and diverting resources from proven protective measures.

Global Precedent - Creates a dangerous global precedent enabling authoritarian governments, citing EU policy, to roll out intrusive surveillance at home, undermining privacy and free expression worldwide.

The official acronym for this game is longer than a good percentage of full titles out there.

SMBWNS2E+MiBP looks like someone mashed their keyboard. I love it.

I think Nintendo gets too much flak for how they name their games.

Anyway, I can't wait for Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. I really think Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park is going to be a good time.

I just heard someone mention the desert could simply be the main hub in this game, and instead of taking an elevator to an area, you ride the bike there.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I don't mind this approach at all, and if I weren't so dumb, I'd be surprised I hadn't considered that.

Bikes aside, not enough people are talking about this moment from the Metroid Prime 4 trailer where you're attacked by this pack of alien wolves in the middle of a blizzard, and they run circles around and IT LOOKS SO COOL.

I guess I'm just hoping this is more than an avenue for padding, because that desert looked very out of place in a series known for having each room/area unique, dense, and purposeful. But again, we have so little info, despite the game's 7 year development cycle and the nearing release date.

I want to hold judgment on the grounds that MP1 was reviled before release, so I think Retro deserves the benefit of the doubt. I don't know if they'd add a bike just for the sake of it. Then again, the PR for this game has been so bad that I can't actually tell if that's the case.

I don't actually know how to feel about Samus riding a bike. Specifically, I don't think the trailer did a good job on selling its inclusion. The bike looks RAD, but it's so unlike anything Metroid has ever done, and the more I think about it, the more confused I get.

One thing I like suggesting is getting their first-party games off the second-hand market. It will save you some money and gives you more of a chance to send a message, or support studios that need you more. Moreover, something like Super Mario Galaxy on Switch should not cost as much as it does.

The screenshot is my original reaction to the Nintendo Direct.

What I'm trying to say here is I'm not trying to guilt-trip anyone. I still get excited. It's just that a few years ago, that would happen without caveats or the lingering reminder of their anti-consumer and anti-competitor practices.

And it's not like this problem is exclusive to them, as every other big shot has repeatedly shown during this generation. But stifling creativity through patents really gets under my skin. I love their games, but you shouldn't be able to own a game CONCEPT. This is a very dangerous slope.
