MDOT is developing a plan for an east-west passenger rail line across the state.

This would be the fourth passenger rail route in Michigan, and would connect Holland, Grand Rapids and East Lansing to Detroit via either Howell or Jackson.

Chicago-based Amtrak trains aren't the only ones that need new cars; long-distance trains need more seats, too! Many of the long-distance trains also sell out regularly, which is why it’s essential that Amtrak place orders for additional long-distance coaches and sleeper cars.

Amtrak has officially launched its NextGen Acela trains, which run between Washington, D.C. and Boston. The new trains can hit speeds of up to 160 mph, and the full set of trainsets will continue to be rolled out until 2027.

The high speed line will connect Toronto to Quebec City via Montreal and Ottawa. The train is set to run at a minimum of 186 mph.
