I host Morning Edition at KMUW. I like listening to records, SCUBA diving, and traveling. And the Twins and Hoffenheim. And smoking meat. But you'll probably just see a lot of pictures of my dog, Leonard.
Nothing really prepares you for the heartbreak of losing your pet. It just sucks.

Hey @bsky.app, how many times do I have to hit "show me less like this" before it actually shows me less of that topic? First the mushroom guy, now F1.

It's my birthday. Here's a picture of my buddy, Leonard, having a snoozle.

I've known @timlambert-pa.bsky.social for a few years. He's the journalist's journalist. We'll miss him on the early morning airwaves. But he's ensuring local news stays strong.
Public media veteran @timlambert-pa.bsky.social moves on to a new enterprise: still covering local news as your NPR station does, but with a different nonprofit venture: one of the States Newsroom chains.

A lot is happening with local news, and some of it is good.
For readers of the @penncapital-star.com who don’t know me,
allow me to introduce myself.

One iteration of each season's Sunflower Showdown needs to be on Kansas Day. Make it a state law. #cbb #ksleg

We recently got a countertop "Sonic ice" maker. Because we can. Cherry limeade consumption has gone up. So here's a notice that you can get a gallon of maraschino cherries.

I think parts beyond the south will still see high temperatures.

When bluesky asked me when I signed up what I wanted to see, I selected "pets" - but all I see are cats. Don't get me wrong, I love a good cat post, but I need more dogs.

Nice to see on the chatter Dave Chapelle performed at the grammies. Cool of them to let him do that.

Where is Congress? Do they have nothing to say?

I keep seeing people say "we're in Idiocracy lol"...this is false. In the movie, President Camacho eventually listened to the advisors and watered crops with water instead of Brawndo (it's what plants crave). And, lo, the crops grew with water. There was redemption for the president in Idiocracy.

Fellow journos (especially dude on WRC4 in DC): it doesn't matter if a flight was just added a few months ago between airports. Pilots get scheduled on many different routes throughout their career and fly to different airports all the time. They're all held to rigorous standards and training.

I do hope reporters ask elected officials, especially our Kansas US senators and House reps, about the impact of the removal in the past week of FAA safety protocols and personnel.
