An insane man moonlighting as a respectable member of society from Portland, Oregon. I write about life, flow arts, music and the Portland Trail Blazers.

One of my favorite YouTubers that helps inspire me to #write more had a very simple piece of advice:

Write more #creativeessays.

So that's what we're doing. I am excited to share this one about my opening night experience with the #PortlandTrailBlazers.

New short story live on the #Patreon!

Just a little ditty detailing my experience thinking about what #basketball can look like as I walked my way to the arena to watch the #PortlandTrailBlazers open their 2025-26 #NBA season.

I wrote about the #EmergencyNakedBikeRide yesterday.

It clarified many feelings I have about where my live, the people who make it that place and the people who would see us made to heel.

Remember #Portland, duplicity can not handle sincerity.

Finishing up my four part Offseason Review of the #PortlandTrailBlazers with the biggest piece of news of them all: who bought the team?

The answer is multiple choice, but it also raised some questions about the future of the #nba in #Portland.

I try to address those questions.
The #Portland/hashtag/PortlandTrailBlazers" class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link">#PortlandTrailBlazers have been sold.

That was fast. Seriously, it took two months between the announcement that bidding was open and that the #NBA franchise had been sold.

But was it fast enough to avoid questions about the future of basketball in #Portland?

A Casual Ramble About the Portland Trail Blazers Offseason (Part 4)
Tom Dundon is slated to be the next owner of the Portland Trail Blazers. That was fast. But not fast enough to escape questions, some serious, some not, about the future of Portland's favorite basketball team.

Our offseason review of the #PortlandTrailBlazers continues with an honest question for those wringing their hands about salaries.

When was the last time the team maximized cap space and lured a top free agent to the Pacific Northwest?

Casual Poetry Drop July 2025: The Binding
I wrote the original version of this poem pretty quickly after Oregon Country Fair, inspired by showering after the festival. There are showers offered on the Fairgrounds, but those always ultimately have the impact of the rock of Sisyphus falling back down to the base of the mountain. What I'm saying is that they feel good, but by next morning I am as dirtclad as ever.

So many memories. So many moments. It's hard not to let them fade or float or pop away. But I guess it's like bubbles; they can only last so long. Best to cherish the moment and then move on to the next ones.
There’s so much to be said about SOAK, but I think the first thing to say about the event is thank you.

I'm quite enjoying rediscovering my taste for writing poetry. Took a long time because of a sense of disgust; that every I write would just be garbage so why bother?

Guess the lesson was that even if it is garbage, it is still worth the exercise. So now I'm just exercising all the time.

The Casual Camera: Letting Cherry Blossoms Bloom
Early spring is a weird time in Portland. Technically, the majority of March is still a month of winter. And yet, two-thirds through the month, the spring equinox hits. Temperatures spike, the sun cleaves the clouds, and cherry blossoms begin to bloom on the waterfront.
