The winner of the Sidewise Award for Alternate History, Sargassa, is out in paperback! This is the first in a speculative trilogy that is equal parts political intrigue, queer romance, and revolution. Read this? Preorder Bloodtide, book 2, out next week!

Just had my author copies of this beautiful book through. Definitely for the dedicated collectors but the art by @alexries.com (cover) and @simonroy.bsky.social (interior) is so beautiful.

One of my favourite things we’ve ever written.

Thanks again, Uncanny for inviting us to write it and helping make it really shine.

HERESY! NOT A SINGLE SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL HAS BEEN PUBLISHED IN THE PAST SIX DECADES!

That was some delightfully pointed satire there. I’ve read those old authors, but I boggle at these people who don’t understand that there has been so much great, vital science fiction written in the last 60 years.

When I turned 30 I had not yet written my first published book or my first published novel and did not know (or know of) some of the most important people in my life. I didn't know how much my life could still change, and did, after the age of 30. There is so much your life still yet to live.

What people forget is why.

In the 1860s, Congress passed a bill to honour the Lewis & Clark expedition by putting Clark’s face on a bill. But they didn’t specify the first name.

The head of the treasury — whose name was Spencer Clark — willfully misinterpreted this and put his own face on a bill.
