This afternoon was about writing a tool to sync local markdown files with a Confluence space.

As a life-long vegetarian, I'm irked, yes *IRKED*, by companies assuming I would rather eat expensive fake animal flesh than a wholesome black bean burger. If I wanted my food to bleed why would I be vegetarian in the first place? That's my hot take for the day. Hope you enjoyed it!

Deploying to #Synology Container Manager with #Terraform is getting better. Tricky due to sparse documentation. Still won't create bind mount folders on its own, but it no longer thinks the build is failing. #homelab

I don't know who needs to hear this, but a 19" rack with a few random servers in it is NOT a mainframe.

When there's a mainframe in your room, there's no more room in the room.

Today was about creating Synology Container Manager projects using Visual Studio Code and a gitea template with an embedded workflow to apply the compose yaml via Terraform, launch the containers, and handle port conflicts and auto-creation of the persistent bind mounts. Fun stuff. Tired now.

Today was brought to you by #Consul, #DevOps, #Gitea, #Homelabbing, #Proxmox, #Synology, and #Terraform. Not necessarily in that order, and now I have a DIY workflow for Synology Container projects with version control, fully self contained. Nothing new or groundbreaking, but fun to learn.

I'm up for the Bond Multiverse. They're all just slightly different timelines.

Homelabbing is fun and made even more interesting by the proclivity of LLMs to just make shit up

You might be GenX if...

...hearing a radio announcer describe 1985 as "forty years ago" just seems so, so wrong.

I still find it hard to believe that it's actually 2025 out there

Has anyone studied the obvious parallels between the trend to flatter org charts and the fact that Kids These Days can't find files in a hierarchical filesystem without searching for them?
October 21, 2025 at 1:11 PM
Kids these days probably don't even know what static looks like

Listening to a raccoon walk across the roof and watching my cats freak out (yes they're indoor-only cats, and outdoor-only raccoons)
