Hello! I seem to have a bunch of new followers from a diabetes focussed list. Welcome to my wee corner of Aotearoa!

This account is radically body/weight neutral. Any fatpbobia, body shaming, or pathologising of fat bodies will earn an instablock. Or a rant before the block if I’m feeling spicy.

Nothing good ever follows that.

Thankfully the calls from two different rest homes we’ve received in the last few days were about minor issues.

That sounds freaky, but my experience is that those heart surgeon types know what they are about.

It’s such a beautiful portrait, and it will be admired for generations in a way a formal posed photograph would not. Looks like an excellent use of money to me.

I think my folks paid $4000 for a three bedroom in Nelson in the 60s. Sold a few years back for something like 150 times that much!

If you don’t hurry up they will start charging interest on those treats

What a naughty wee sausage!

Am I tired and sore because of my wonky brain or my wonky collagen? (It’s both OFC)

While I think protesting outside someone’s home, particularly if it’s an aggressive form of protest, is often a dick move, I think banning it creates more problems and injustice than it solves.

Better to make sure our laws about violence, intimidation and vandalism are solid and upheld fairly.

Whatever is left over after you treat one thing is probably the other?

It is hard to tell. And if you’ve lived with (particularly unrecognised) neurodivergence for any length of time, you’re probably depressed and anxious anyway.

One time I was doing a guided meditation where I was meant to be floating my worries down a stream like leaves. I pictured a whole elaborate stream-and-meadow scene including the Beatles in full Sgt Pepper regalia floating along on one of the leaves.

That would have seemed so random!

That doesn’t surprise me

I can’t remember not having mine. I assume it was different before I learned to talk, but I don’t remember that far back.

I would pay good money for a bit of internal quiet.

Today was that J’s mum had had a bit of a fall. Yesterday it was that my Mum had been prescribed some cream for a rash. So nothing disastrous but not exactly cheering.

When the police arrive in the early hours, it’s pretty unlikely you’re going to be anything close to good for the next wee while.

I love when the resthome calls and they start with “How are you?” I DON’T KNOW! You tell me how I’m gonna be after you tell me what’s gone wrong with my loved one this time! You tell me!

When I picture an apple it rapidly shifts through all the possibilities. It’s red then green, cartoony and realistic and painted in oils, it’s a still from Snow White and the logo on my phone and being offered to me by some lady wearing a fig leaf…

My partner thinks in words when he’s consciously thinking about something, but when he’s done the inner voice just goes away. I can’t imagine what that must be like!

Also, while he can visualise things, it’s not something he does unless he’s been told to.

Today I get to be support for J while he has a minor medical procedure. In some ways it’s a role reversal, but also it blows my mind how when he goes to the doctor he always comes away with a clear diagnosis and a straightforward remedy.

Inseparable since they met.
