House of cards, except for Starlink.

Schumer reminds me of the scene the "Godfather" where the adopted son and lawyer is told that he won't be the family lawyer any more. "We need a wartime consigliere, you're not a wartime consigliere."

I just read it and it's spot on. One declarative sentence after another, all of them chiseled and illuminating. "Loathing Democrats for perceived sanctimony is all the GOP has," is my favorite. "Wedgie" is not bad, either! I hope you had fun writing this. I sure had fun reading it!

Sounds like what they did in Nashville, and Charlotte, and...

Still screwing up the 2000 Presidential election. What a feat of egoism!

The House passes an anti-socialism resolution, and Trump oozes sympatico with the new Mayor, who is grinning like a Cheshire cat.

What did they say to one another in private for Trump to piss on everything he supposedly stands for?

The refusal to seat the new Congresswoman from Arizona in a timely manner is a forerunner to this action

Then the Supreme Court will greenlight the impoundments, and we will be in a full-blown dictatorship.

This is not a scenario that makes the Democrats look good.

The shutdown will last 10-14 days, just as long as it takes for the public to say, "no more, please help us!" Then the Republicans will nuke the filibuster, pass a CR, and take credit for saving the country. Then Trump and Vought will impound the funds for any appropriation they don't like.
September 30, 2025 at 12:36 PM
Unfortunately what is likely to happen is after a 10-14 day shutdown the Republicans will nuke the filibuster and pass a CR without Democrativc support, then Trump will claim credit for ending the shutdown, and Trump and Vought will impound any CR authorized funding they don’t like

Everyone could benefit from 1-2 years of education in public service after high school. For me, it was being a Head Start teacher in North Carolina. Joining the military was not a desirable option during Vietnam, and for many would not be one now

It was Howard Stern who made the comment!
September 23, 2025 at 12:16 AM
There was comment on Deadline, which often covers political stories better than the mainstream press, to wit, ABC could simply deny Sinclair the right to air Monday Night Football. This might conflict with Sinclair's network affiliate contracts, but if it doesn't, they would fold in an instant.

it should be mandatory for everyone

Young people of all stripes would hearken to this idea as long as a non-military option is available

It's a leveling, democratic exercise that places every American in a common space.
September 22, 2025 at 2:33 AM
As long as there is an option for public service, broadly defined, I am fully in favor of this.
