Trying my best | He/Him
I like the game a lot (probably 3rd or 4th favorite this year) but this is 100% deserved

This quote will likely have some more context in the game where it turns out to be an "at what cost" thing.

But also like just putting the quote contextless on the back of a coin given to all employees, idk maybe I'm wrong and this game is going to be a 300 million dollar IDF propaganda piece

I'm guessing he genuinely thought this was a cool challenge coin type deal and everyone would love it

And yeah reading into the subtext on the quote I'm gonna go with both

Really cool of them to do this through the entire holiday season too

It seems like in non western territories they're still doing extremely well and even in the US they aren't doing bad at all compared to where the economy is at, but I'm sure it's a tough spot to be in

This is oftentimes due to stock issues that were not a factor this time. I think there's something to be said for it. The overall economic situation is still the primary factor but I don't think they should just sit and do nothing.

Seems bad but also seems like the US in general is cooked so it's not just them
Nintendo needs to stop thinking addressing 0 feedback and having 0 communication is going to lead to anything but bad narratives surrounding them though. The software pricing + litigiousness are such own goals it's nuts

I don't go here (CRPGs) but between all this and now the stuff coming out about their terrible hiring process and today's story of straight up sexual assault and bigotry going unpunished at the company, Swen went from "not for me but glad to see that studio doing well" to "fuck this guy" pretty fast
December 17, 2025 at 9:01 PM
It's bad all around. Primarily shows how bad the US economy is but like even with that being the case Nintendo is gonna have to figure something out cause I'm sure they're not loving this result no matter what the reason is
December 17, 2025 at 4:35 PM
It's a bit of everything and yeah predominantly recession indicator but I think regardless of the reason Nintendo can't be looking at that number and just going ah well nevertheless lol
December 17, 2025 at 4:33 PM
I mean more broadly it also just feels like a total recession indicator in the US, but Nintendo is gonna need to figure some shit out
December 17, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Would you be able to release the transcript of the part of the interview where Swen says “but I think at this point everyone at the company is more or less OK with the way we’re using it"? I'd be interested to read that bit most of all to hear about the "pushback" at Larian in context
