#BigOil behemoth and #HyNet #CCS partner #Eni has been fined €336million for rigging fuel prices. In 2022, it leaked 80,000 litres of oil into the #IrishSea. Eni isn't a fit and proper company, yet its pocketing huge taxpayer subsidies. Why #DESNZ?

We're not too sure. Shenanigans are afoot.

Instead of paying #HyNet and #Eni £22billion to develop #CCS, the government should be funding more renewables, upgrading and expanding the energy grid and investing in #ElectrificationInnovation so high carbon industries like cement and glass manufacturing can go green.

#CCS is a boondoggle and #DESNZ is taking a "high risk approach by backing unproven technologies with large amounts of taxpayer and consumer funding" so the fossil fuel industry can get out of jail free. #EdMiliband should #StopFundingCCS now.

#BlueHydrogen is an "environmental disaster" and #CarbonCaptureAndStorage is a high risk unproven technology. The fossil fuel industry is hoodwinking politicians and the public, just like the tobacco industry did by inventing low tar cigarettes.

Keir Starmer has effectively blocked the #bp #H2Teesside #BlueHydrogen scheme by endorsing a rival tech development. Despite headlines claiming his decision is a blow to #NetZero, it's actually a boost because blue H₂ is worse for the climate than gas.

The government is exploring plans by @climeworks.bsky.social for a #DirectAirCapture facility as part of #HyNet. The #DAC process is expensive and energy intensive and Climeworks has faced significant criticism due to its technology failing to meet capture targets.

Octopus boss Greg Jackson says the government should #StopFundingCCS for energy systems because it's "a gift to the oil and gas industry to carry on what its doing, and carry on the fiction that enormous amounts of public money should enable it to keep doing it".

#CCS is a fanciful technofix which lacks a credible track record. Schemes like #HyNet will impose unlimited financial liabilities and huge environmental costs on the UK and help dirty energy to sideline renewables. The government must #StopFundingCCS now.

We're taking the #DepartmentForEnergySecurityAndNetZero and the #NorthSeaTransitionAuthority to court. We believe their decision to allow the #HyNet #CCS scheme in #LiverpoolBay failed to:

• Assess major accidents risk
• Comply with marine conservation regulations
• Assess climate change impact

🚨 BREAKING: @hynotnw.bsky.social is taking the UK Government to court. Why? Because they’re throwing £22 BILLION at CCS & hydrogen schemes that would lock us into more fossil fuels and impact communities. Here’s what you need to know 🧵👇 #StopHyNet www.hynot.uk/category/med...

Here's #Stanlow owner #EETFuels celebrating its highest domestic sales month ever. The same EET that continues expanding its network to sell even more fossil fuels. The same EET that keeps flexing about #TransformingForTomorrow.

Don't be fossil fooled by its #Greenwash.
hynotnw.bsky.social
The falsity and the reality.

#Essar doesn't care about nature. It keeps on #Greenwashing and pretending #Stanlow will become the world's first decarbonised refinery while it keeps on pumping and dumping pollution into the environment.

The fossil fuel industry is lying to you.

Another example of unbalanced journalism from the local media. @chesterstandard.bsky.social is just a dupe in the government and fossil fuel industry #Greenwash charade when it credulously publishes media releases, quotes and jacked up numbers with no opposing view.

#LNG is another wolf in green clothing. America exports LNG produced from fracked gas to the UK which will likely find its way into the #BlueHydrogen supply chain. Upstream methane emissions are entirely ignored by the fossil fuel industry when it hypes 'low carbon' solutions like LNG and #BlueH2.
