Fair play. The concept of ICC events having a shred of sanctity or neutrality to jeopardise and undermine (a greater example of openly festering malfeasance and iniquity is scarcely possible to imagine) is genuinely one of the funniest things said in the history of this ridiculous sport.

Also means stories end up framed like this.

Zimbabwe's campaign wasn't good, but wasn't 'disastrous'.

Rather than applying men's labels & preconceptions, it should be noted ZIM are a developing nation, have never been a top women's team, and were expected to lose to at least 3 of these games.

And the ICC can't even claim their hands were tied by their own benighted ODI ranking system, which places Zimbabwe below Associate nations Thailand, Scotland and Netherlands.
January 22, 2026 at 7:25 PM
As all the other boards predictably fell into line and voted with their wallets, and against Bangladesh, the ICC are now lying with impunity.

Absolutely no-one genuinely believes these are isolated issues.

The thin end of the wedge has been and gone.

Sky's 'temporary picture problems' with their WPL broadcast lasted for the full duration of the match, and if anything, got worse as the game progressed. Well worth the premium subscription.

A typical (and far from the worst) example of Sky's 'temporary' picture problems with their WPL broadcasts.

Has been like this throughout today's game, and was the same for much of GG v MI the other day - barely able to get through a ball without some form of audio-visual issue.

Andy Zaltzman managed to include some cricket statting in his prize task on Taskmaster Champion of Champions.

The index of the book he created for the task references Kapil Dev's famous 175* at Tunbridge Wells during the 1983 World Cup - a game which Zaltzman saw in person.

'Rights groups condemn new record number of executions in Saudi Arabia'

Something to think about as you see the logo of Saudi oil giant Aramco plastered across Cricket World Cups (the ICC proudly state that their partnership "extends beyond traditional sponsorship").

The game ended a run of seven consecutive draws in Women's Ashes Tests, and the 5 run margin of victory is still the second narrowest for a women's Test.

171 runs remains the biggest 1st innings deficit overturned to win a women's Test.

Today marks the anniversary of the start of the 1984 Women's Ashes Test at Adelaide Oval.

The game remains one of the greatest games in women's Test history, and saw England stage a remarkable comeback victory.
