It's not just that the traditional games industry is stagnating, but that 1) economic incentives (tax policy, grants, etc.) do not prioritize companies that reinvest in themselves and 2) that unions have been systematically gutted and dismantled in the USA for the past 80 years by Republicans.

painting them onto the mesh. I've also been using vertex colours for AO, and while that might have been obvious to some, for those of us who grew up in a post-PBR world, it's quite novel. I'm not sure if and what I could use this style for but it's been a blast experimenting with it.

I've been recently avoiding substance/photoscan textures entirely and drawing these low res textures entirely by hand. Obviously the results are gonna be a lot nicer since I have complete control. But surprisingly I've found that it's waay faster than trying to find the right materials and...
