50 years ago today, renowned climbers Joe Brown & Mo Anthoine, & potholer Duncan James descending a shaft on the Great Orme, Llandudno. Not without incident! My father's diary pithily records "The climbers failed". Bit rich, given his rôle on the day was to "take notes"!! #Climbing

47 years ago today my father's diary entry recording the discovery of a decorated & perforated canid canine tooth in Upper Kendrick's Cave on the Great Orme, Llandudno. Other such Paleolithic drilled teeth came from the lower cave in 19thC. Drawing 25mm long.

Visited dental hygenist today and afterwards booked next appointment for 4 months from now - and had to pay for it in advance! Is this normal? Have always paid on the day, after the treatment, job done. Now though they've got my money in their bank account for the next 4 months!

For #TombTuesday here's Robert the Bruce, from the 1889 brass in Dunfermline Abbey Church, I painted in 1985. Not quite life-size, around 5ft long. Had a thing for mediaeval brasses at the time, I blame the cover for the Diamond Head album "Canterbury". What teenagers do, eh?!
