If we wanted him, we should have got it done last week or before while the release clause was still active. We've stalled for the sake of saving a few million and it's ended up costing us.

Got to say, that was my immediate reaction when I heard that Devine was going on loan. He's 21 years old. I know there's always the odd exception, but if a player isn't good enough at 21, he'll probably never be good enough. Sell before his value continues to depreciate.

I really hope we're not waiting for the MGW situation to get resolved before we do any other business, because that will be a long wait.

I'm sure I saw it reported as his asking price at some point over the past few weeks. A quick look on Google just now tells me that the latest reports say £70m.

Thanks for the recommendations. I have a silly rule/superstition not to watch videos of players we're linked with unless/until they sign. But I'll look them up if we do sign him.

It feels like a non-starter to me. West Ham won't want to sell him to us so unless we pay his £85m release clause, which we won't, it's not going to happen.
