I'm late to the party, but Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett was an absolute delight. Surprise after surprise book 1 of a trilogy.

I so wish it wasn't so expensive to be poor in the US. The look on the faces of patrons who now know they can get free fax, prints and notary at our library when they paid 50-100$ at FedEX to ask for emergency funds makes my really sad.

Had to work at my library on my day off so to make it fun we drew Bender with a colander on his head with a DONT PRESS THE BUTTON below on our white board. When kids would press the pretend button, I would turn into a juggling robot with a colander on my head. Some kids did it over and over!!
