None of my facts are fun.

All my facts are dismal.

Sorry.

I detest LinkedIn but it seems to have become the professional platform of choice, but then I found nolto - part of the fediverse so you can use a Mastodon account to log in. Let's see where this goes...

So near ... and yet not quite there.

The truth is, the only interests the US has ever been interested in, are its own. "Alliances" were only made when they were useful.

There is no cookie banner regulation. PECR requires that businesses need to get informed consent to process user data.

The cookies banner is malicious compliance by the tech industry. It was not mandated by the EU.
Spicy take:

The EU really needs to drop the cookie warning banner rule already. It's making the internet a less safe place by making everyone used to just mindlessly clicking accept constantly rather than actually reading when there's important messages

I've worked in #tech for ~30 years.

The more I learn about it, the less I want it.

I don't want streaming audio. I want to play my records. Physical objects. Which my daughter will love when I'm gone.

I don't want my books from Amazon, or Apple, or Google. I want paper and ink that I can […]

I'm astonished that I even need to say this. Yet here we are.

Your fridge does not need "AI". Or an internet connection.

It needs reliable power to *keep your food cold* and that is literally all it needs to do.

Yup.

Also, rain falls on frozen roads and cycle paths and there’s #blackice everywhere and you’ve got people doing triple salcoes coming down the hill.
Saying that, I have to admig, when I lived in Scotland #glasgow weather has beaten me. Sunny, snowy day at -15? No problem. I'll get my bike.

0 degree and a freezing rain smashing into your face at 60mph? Thank you, I think I'll drive today.
